So here’s the thing… I think i’m having a style mid-life crisis. If you know me, you know one thing I struggle with is feeling like i’m having a mid-life crisis ALL the time. I like a multitude of things, so I’m constantly changing my mind or, well, my life path. But now I’m questioning everything I think I know about my interior style.
I tend to do this after I complete a project. The first house I renovated was modern, black and whites, clean lines. The second was all about salvaging vintage elements and adding an art deco vibe. My latest big project was… modern cottage? Muted colors, checkered tile, sage greens, and anything else inspired by Chris Loves Julia’s home (I mean who’s not inspired by them?)
But now, I want COLOR. I’m craving it! That’s an issue since we recently sold our house to rent for a year and I don’t think my landlord would be too happy if I started ripping out the old tile. So for now, I’ll just collect my inspiration and try to convince you to add colorful tiles since I can’t at the moment.
My favorite way to add color is through tile. I’ve always been a fan of Spanish style tiles in bright warm colors, or Greek blue tints in textured tile that unfortunately remind me that I live in a land locked state (but a girl can dream!)
So today I’m sharing a few of my recent Pinterest pins or Instagram bookmarks from a few of my favorite creators who have successfully infused their spaces with colorful tile. For now, we can live vicariously through them!
1. Old Brand New
I’ll start with a photo from someone who really kickstarted my need for colorful tile – Old Brand New (Dabito) remodeled his bathroom with this gorgeous orangey-rust colored tile saturating the whole room and I’m obsessed! I’ve always been a fan of color saturation and really just GOING for it, especially with a tile this beautiful.

2. Regan Baker’s Patterned Tile
Okay, I’m obviously showing my preference for warm colors, but I’m loving this patterned tile in this San Fransisco bathroom. The wide window at the top brings a natural light that makes the tile feel bright and fun, without being too busy and claustrophobic. Bathrooms are the perfect place to really go crazy and do what you want, without disrupting the feel of the rest of the house.

3. Green With Envy
The design in this whole bathroom amazes me, but cutting the tall ceilings with a half wall of tile was a great use of space. The ultra bright white walls keep the green as the focal point, and the wood tones compliments it so well, giving a mid-century feel.

4. A Sunny Shower
I’m all for stacking tile in horizontal or vertical rows like this. I think it brings a modern take to an average subway tile and makes it a bit more interesting! In this specific tile the variation of color in the tiles gives it a handmade, natural look which I like over a flat glossy yellow tile. The all glass shower walls gives it tons of natural light, really complimenting the bright look of this tile.

5. Blue Zellige By Oh Joy!
Oh Joy! transformed their bathroom using this light blue zellige tile and details that totally complete the look. They describe this tile as “perfectly imperfect” which is exactly why I love textured tile. This color transports you into a cliff-side greek beach house and I think we’d all love to feel like that in our own bathrooms.
