Guest Bathroom Reveal: From Start To Finish

Today I’m finally showing you guys the final product of the guest bathroom renovation in our latest house! I posted the renovation plans a while back, and I finally got to see that vision come to life. If you missed it, here’s what we planned.

If you follow along with our renovations, you know I have a thing for funky bathrooms. I think they’re the perfect rooms to go a little crazy with and have some fun. With an accent wall of patterned tile and blue-green floor tile, this bathroom didn’t disappoint!

The before…

As you can see, this whole bathroom was pretty gross and needed to be gutted floor to ceiling. We bought this house knowing everything would need to go, so that wasn’t much of a surprise.

We got rid of the soffit, the window above the toilet (that peaked into the master shower… yikes.) and all of the decorative details. We also moved the electrical from the sides of the vanity mirror to eventually be at the top.

The after!

The positives:

  • I am SO happy with how this bathroom turned out. The accent wall using this Ivy Hill tile is definitely the star of the show! We went with a random pattern, and i’m happy we didn’t plan it out too much.
  • The vanity fit perfectly and was simple and not too distracting from the tile. I think it wad the perfect neutral between the floor tile and wall tile.
  • This was my first time using a bath bar for the vanity light, and I LOVED it. It’s so bright that it actually made this bathroom hard to photograph, but it makes the perfect bathroom light to see clearly.
  • The floor tile was a last minute pick while we were planning, and ended up being one of my favorite elements. I love a pop of color, and even though it’s a blue-green tile, it’s still pretty subtle since it has that slate look finish. I’ll definitely try to use this tile again.

Learning opportunities

Ok… screw ups:

  • The tub / shower tile. I assumed since the rest of the bathroom was so detailed, I should go simple with the shower tile. We installed white subway tile with white grout. While that was fine, I wish I would’ve even chosen a textured white tile, or something a little less plain.
  • Swiss Coffee by Behr was the paint color we chose throughout this house, and I don’t love it, especially in this bathroom. Again, it’s fine and not extremely noticeable, but there’s a bit of a yellow tint to the walls that I wasn’t going after. (If you have a favorite creamy white that doesn’t lean yellow, I’d love to know!)

To get more details on where to shop this room or what products we used, they’re listed on this post.

That does it for the guest bathroom renovation for this house! I hope you enjoyed following along with this one and I would love to hear your thoughts!
