Primary Bathroom Plans And Mood Board

In our newest renovation project we’re going for a whole new look. While we usually stick to bold, modern, and lots of black and white, we decided to go a more cozy route in this house. We’re going to be using a lot of toned down colors, frequent texture, and a more antique flair throughout.

The primary bathroom is one of the rooms I’m most excited for! Here’s what the bathroom looked like when we bought the house.

It’s in really rough shape, but we’ll be gutting the whole room and starting from scratch.

Design

When I start brainstorming a design for a bathroom, I like to start with the vanity. Picking out a vanity can really be the thing that strikes inspiration for the rest of the room- which is what happened here. I knew I definitely wanted this green vanity I found on Wayfair. It was the exact look I was going for and really tied in the vibe of the house.

I’m choosing to add the faucet that was pictured with the vanity as well.

Tile

For the floor, I knew i wanted something a bit more funky that would flow with the traditional look of the vanity. I landed on this beautiful black and white marble checkered tile from Home Depot. It’s so stunning, I knew right away I would be using that as the flooring. I think it will be the focal point of the whole bathroom.

Checkered tile is definitely having a moment right now, and i’m on board. I do worry this will be too “trendy” and go out of style, but I love it so much I’m hoping it sticks around for a while.

For the shower tile, I want something basic but pretty, so I think we’ll go with this creamy white textured subway tile from Floor And Decor.

It’s simple enough to go with everything else i’ve chosen for this room, but still elegant looking that I think will look nice with the modern cottage look of this bathroom.

Accessories

For the accessories, I want to stick with gold fixtures. There will be a long gold mirror, a gold light, and gold shower fixtures. I don’t have the specific fixtures picked out yet- but the gold will really bring in the antique look.

Here are some fixtures I’m thinking about…

Gold Arched Vanity Mirror on Overstock

Gold Faucet on Wayfair

Gold Sliding Glass Shower Door from Home Depot
