Small Home Details To Inspire You – Week 1

Small details in a home have always been my favorite. Sure, paint colors, cabinets, flooring and tile are important elements but small details make a house go from cool to stunning if done right. If you follow me on Pinterest you know half the things I save are to my “Small Details” board and I dream about customizing every little thing in my home. I collect these small details hoping someday I’ll build a house, and I want every detail to be interesting or serve a purpose!

This post will be about things I found this week that would be a relatively small design choice, but make a big impact. From creative storage solutions to beautiful toilet paper holders, it’s all in the details.

Brass Wall Hook

You know a decor product is good when your first thought is I would wear that. I want this wall hook everywhere in my house. This could work in an entryway for coats, or next to your shower for towels and robes. I (an introvert) would invite people to my house just so they could see this hook when they go to hang up their coat. (Is that too extreme?) Safe to say I love this one.

Digital Art Print

If you haven’t yet taken advantage of Etsy’s printable art, why not?! Printable art on Etsy is usually under $5 and can be printed in most sizes. This print, in particular, is funky and just feels like summer. It would easily bring color and interest to a kitchen or dining room!

Paper Mache Pendant Light

This one is actually a DIY project, not a product you can buy. I think that makes it even cooler, knowing it’s truly one of a kind! Paper mache is a really fun project, so it would be really special to hand-make something that makes such a statement in your home. I’ve personally gone down the paper mache rabbit hole and made several pieces from this paper and glue combo. If you don’t want your hands covered in glue, here’s a (kind of) similar dupe to a pendant that I’ve personally used in a house before.

Lit Appliance Garage

I absolutely love the appliance garage trend that has been gaining popularity in modern kitchens. As someone who values a clutter-free countertop, the concept of having a designated space to store and hide appliances is truly a game-changer. The thing that blew my mind with this particular kitchen is the dim light in the cabinet. Something that hides my microwave and stops me from having to turn on a harsh light first thing in the morning is a win in my book!

Organic Cabinet Pulls

I’m pretty much a fan of any brass in an organic or asymmetrical shape. People are usually in the camp of trying to make their kitchen hardware blend in seamlessly, or loving statement hardware- and I’m definitely in the latter group. This hardware is so bold I think it would look so good as bathroom vanity pulls.

Geometric Rail Post

This is a perfect example thinking through every small detail. I don’t think most people would’ve thought to make their railing look like a sculpture, but it turns something that’s normally overlooked into a piece of art. It’s stunning. If you have to have a big bulky post in your home, why not make it beautiful? I love the walnut wood with the frosted glass looking topper. In my opinion, unique structural pieces like this won’t go out of style.

That’s a wrap!

I hope this roundup gave you some ideas or inspiration for customizing the details in your home the way you want them! Although flipping houses is more focused on layout and big picture elements, I’ve really been trying to add some of these special things in each house that makes it unique.

Even if you can’t add things to your house like a sculptural rail post, there are always ways to add small personal touches into your own home. The easiest way is through cabinet hardware, artwork, paint, or even cool curtains. What are your favorite personal touches or details you’ve added in your own home?!

If you want to see more of of the pins I collect throughout the week, give me a follow on Pinterest! As always, I post on Instagram as well and give updates and behind the scenes to our flips!
